Hanala watched as Windsinger and Blackfang came, breathing a sigh of relief. Now she and Tekai could run, find somewhere safe to be, together, until the humans left. She jumped onto Mojag's back and slashed her claws quickly over his eyes, biting his ears then leaping of, misjudging how much power she actually had in her wounded shoulder and fell short, landing on the ground right infront of Mojags teeth. She stumbled off and scampered over to Tekai, limping heavily as she tried to run. Blood trickled in a steady stream from her shoulder. She got to Tekai's side and rubbed against him, then she almost collapsed, swaying on her feet. She morphed back and swayed again, her shoulder nearly giving out. "Can we leave?" she whimpered, her voice full of fear and pain. She yelped as she swayed again, her shoulder twitching. "I don't know how long I can keep this up" she yelped, stumbling forward then back. Her tail twitched as she stood, swaying and twitching at Tekai's side.

Blackfang let go of Mojag for an instant, but it was only to gain momentum for another attack. The other male, already hurt by Tekai and Hanala - though not much - had been seriously injured by that flank wound, and Windsinger was attacking him viciously.
Mojag didn't have a chance. He was outnumbered four to one, though if only competent fighters were counted the odds were down to two to one. There weren't any humans close enough to help him; if he was going to get out of here, he had to do it himself.
Which was why he twisted in an attempt to roll Windsinger off him and get a chance to strike her belly the moment Blackfang let go. That was what Blackfang had been waiting for, though, and he instantly jumped forward again, clamping his jaws on Mojag's neck. With Windsinger impairing his movement, Mojag had no way to dodge.
Blackfang snapped his jaws shut, killing Mojag instantly. He let go and watched Mojag's lifeless body drop to the ground, then looked over at Windsinger. "Nice job." Most wolves wouldn't have been able to hold him still enough for that move to work... He turned to Tekai and Hanala. "Are you two alright?"
--
Seshana watched as Firepaw fought the humans, desperately wishing she could do something to help. But there was no way she could ever do anything in time...
She noticed him holding his wing awkwardly as he came back; it must be hurt. It didn't look too bad, though. Of course, if they stayed here any longer it would get a lot worse; there were humans everywhere...
She carefully got to her paws, trying to jar her left shoulder as little as possible. She didn't succeed entirely, and her face was contorted in pain by the time she got up. She took a few wobbling steps on three legs before she shook her head. "I can't walk like this. Not when my shoulder is raw meat and I'm being attacked. Maybe if there weren't any humans around, but..." So what was she going to do?
She needed to get out of here. Sesh had enough sense to know that if she kept fighting, she'd be in the way and probably get killed. But where could she go, if she couldn't go anywhere?
Firepaw wouldn't be able to carry her, so she was definitely staying here... but there wasn't any cover. She'd be an easy target. She needed to get out of sight... like she'd done before.
She glanced at Firepaw. "I'm going to hide myself underground like I did earlier; I can't keep fighting like this..." She laid back down, and a shell of earth covered her before sinking farther down. I wonder if I'm going to run into another tunnel?
--
Denali frowned, looking thoughtful. "No, I'm fairly sure that doesn't fit..." He was beginning to enjoy toying with Shadow. Still, it couldn't go on much longer...
Denali snorted. "I don't like to put myself at risk? In that case, I wouldn't even be here. As it is, I'm standing in the middle of a camp full of hostile wolves leading an attack against them, despite also being in the field of fire of all my humans and my remaining helicopter. This is far from not being at risk. And you'll find out soon enough... but you know I'm not lying already. What do I have to gain?"
Denali shrugged. "Hm... I see he was someone you would have preferred alive. You know, if you ordered your pack to surrender I could simply have you all tranquilized instead of killed..." Like Shadow would accept. But it would save a bit of effort...
Denali shook his head, smiling. "Wrong again. The game is over. I might lose this fight with you, but I've won the battle, whether or not I survive. Kill me, and your pack dies from the charges. Don't kill me, and your pack dies from my forces. You don't have a third option here..."
Denali hurled a thick tendril of shadow at Shadow, hitting the older wolf across the flank and through him away, all the while considering how ironic it was that Shadow was being defeated by shadows. "A flaming cage. How creative." Twin shadowy tendrils appeared beside him as he advanced on Shadow...

Hanala snorted, but then yelped. "Fine, just fine" she joked without humor. "Unless you count the two" she winced "bullets in my shoulder and the" she waited a minute "2 broken ribs. And that I am having trouble standing. But nooo, I am fine" she said, then fell on her side with a yelp.
"No, not okay. Not okay. Not okay at all" she shrieked, pain ringing in her voice as she whimpered. "my. Chest really hurts!" she whimpered, panting, her toung lolling out of her mouth. She twitched, but didn't bother getting up as she cringed and winced again.

When Blackfang let go, Windsinger's grip tightened, even as Mojag twisted. She wasn't sure how this was going to work anymore, but the adrenaline was pounding in her veins and her heart was pumping a mile a minute. It didn't matter what he tried to do. She wasn't going to let him go as long as he could hurt the pack. She was the Beta, and she protected the pack.
Noting from the corner of her eye that Blackfang was moving forward again, Windsinger loosened her grip in preparation, but not enough that he could move enough for it to make a difference.
When Blackfang pulled back, so did she, shaking her head vigorously and snorting in disgust. "That was disgusting." she snorted, swiping her tongue across her maw. For just a moment she could believe that danger had been avoided, but then the sounds of battle rushed back at her, and Windsinger was forced to remember. "Thanks anyways, though." she smiled slightly before turning her attention towards Hanala.
She listened carefully to the female's response to Blackfang's words. "Sarcasm will not get you far." she commented as the female's legs buckled out from under her, but her reprimand had no real weight behind it. Windsinger filed away her injuries for future reference, but she couldn't do anything right then. "Be strong, Hanala. The proper care will be provided for you later on, but we can't do anything right now. I have no herbs, no nothing to help you. After the battle, though, I will help you as much as I can." She wasn't one for giving false hope, but she'd tried to gentle it as much as possible, while still being truthful.
Any stupidity on her fault didn't mean she deserved this kind of pain, and Windsinger would do as much as she could to help Hanala.
-
He watched her getting up with a pained expression. He was trying to hide it, but his attempts weren't working, he was sure. Firepaw gritted his teeth when she started speaking, resolving not to speak until she was done. Obviously, he couldn't ask if she were okay; she obviously wasn't, but he still wanted to. Thinking logically around Sesh, even in the middle of a battle, was impossible.
"I know you can't walk..." but he was still trying to figure out what he could do for her. He wasn't going to let anything happen to her without a fight, "I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner." Pausing, he tried to decide what he should do next, "I could carry you out, maybe?" Okay, no, he couldn't. She was nearly as big as he was. Still, he was going to offer, because he couldn't take it back.
When Sesh spoke again, he had to admit that her suggestion sounded reasonable. "Be careful, Sesh." he muttered, a warning that came too late to be reasonable, even as she was swallowed by the earth.
His gaze remained locked on the place where she'd just been, before whirling away and lunging towards an approaching human, fangs sinking into the human's throat before he had time to think. Firepaw refused to admit that he was scared, or that he was worried about either Cas or Sesh. Neither one of them needed to be fighting, and Sesh was already hurt...
Lantern, though. Lantern might be a help...
Where was that stupid, self-centered male? Firepaw bared his fangs as another human advanced, throwing himself at that human with a snarl. There wasn't time to think, there wasn't time to feel. There was just him and the human before him and his claws and his fangs.
-
Something threw him sideways.
Shadow hit the ground with a furious yelp, feeling something crack as his body connected with the unforgiving ground, flames licking the air gleefully as he struggled to his feet, trying to keep his weight off his right front paw as much as possible.
"It only needs to be effective." Shadow somehow managed to gasp the words out as his chest heaved and his heart thudded. He was considering for the first time now that he might be defeated by this male, and it wasn't going well.
As Denali advanced, Shadow had to force himself not to take a step back. He was going to miss this stupid, high and mighty male with pride, and he was going to prove himself better. A snarl stretched across his features as the shadows loomed in his vision, and Shadow threw himself forward again, not allowing himself to dwell on just how useless that move was.
-
He nearly fell when she rubbed against his shoulder, leaning too far in the other direction to catch his balance easily, nostrils flaring in annoyance.
Tekai shrugged when she spoke, his eyes narrowing slightly. "We can't leave. There is nowhere to run, Hanala." he sounded annoyed, but the apologetic glance he shot her a moment later made up for it (hopefully).
His ears plastered flat against his skull, "I don't either, but we still have to fight." They always had to fight; that was what made them wolves instead of just animals, and that was that. He was a wolf, he would fight until the end. Just not for this pack.
"I'm all right." Tekai snorted, "I was doing more dodging than fighting." it sounded as if it pained him to admit it, but that was all right. The fact that he was all right was better than being hurt, anyways.
Hanala's not funny joke fell on deaf ears as Tekai surveyed Mojag's body with an air of surprise. He hadn't been "watching" what was going on, and this sudden absence of a threat to his life came as a surprise to Tekai.
Tekai jerked his head towards Hanala when her words finally made it through to his brain, but he didn't really have anything to say. So he watched, eyes narrowing very slightly as his claws sunk into the earth.
Someone would be hurt for this... And since Mojag was dead, Tekai was going to find someone else.

Blackfang raised an eyebrow, but didn't comment. Now was not the time to ask her what she meant, even if she normally had no problems fighting other wolves and dealt with wounds on a regular basis. A battlefield wasn't the place for a chat, after all...
Blackfang winced as Hanala collapsed. That looked like it hurt... a lot. "Hold on," he instructed. "This'll be over soon." Whether or not we'll win, though... But he left that part out. He couldn't allow anyone else to see his doubts. He had to stay strong...
He took a quick glance around the remains of the camp. The rain and smoke made it hard to see anything, but the number of still wolven forms was beginning to outnumber the moving ones. The forest was burning, too, though not quickly. Still, the humans seemed to have lost quite a few, as well... But there were still so many of them...
He heard human voices shouting and turned to see a human pointing at them from a distance, while nearby humans where charging them. He growled, then leaped on one of them and tore his throat out, knocking another two into each other with a wave of water.
He looked up to see the human pointing at him again and holding something up to his mouth, which he appeared to be yelling into. "Windsinger," he growled, "Let's get him. He seems important - the other humans are obeying him. Maybe it'll confuse them..."
--
Sesh shivered in the dark cave. There was barely enough room to roll over; definitely not enough to stand. She hadn't had enough energy left to make it any bigger...
A drop of water fell from the ceiling onto her already soaked pelt. She hadn't gone deep enough to avoid the rain, apparently. She curled her tail over her head miserably, trying to stay warm.
It didn't help, and more water dripped onto her. She sighed, and squirmed around a bit until she could look at her shoulder, making a small hole in the roof to let a bit of light in. She could do tiny things like that for hours, and unless some human stuck his gun straight down and shot her, she'd be fine...
Her shoulder did not look good, to say the least. She winced, counting at least nine different holes - some of which looked wide enough to have taken multiple shots. The fur was nearly all torn away, and blood soaked the whole area. This is going to take a while to heal... At least it's not fatal, though, assuming it doesn't get infected. And Windsinger is good at preventing infections... Of course, if Windsinger was dead... Well, if she was dead, the pack was probably doomed anyway and an infection would be the last of Sesh's concerns.
She gave the wound a tentative lick, knowing that it needed to be cleaned, then let out a whimper at the pain. She grimaced, then continued licking it, trying to ignore how much it hurt and not notice the salty taste of her own blood on her tongue. She needed to think about something else...
Like Firepaw. He had just saved her life, even though she had been threatening to ruin his. Then he'd apologized for not getting here sooner, and her pain had obviously hurt him. And when he had told her to be careful... he'd meant it. She could tell that... I don't understand, she thought miserably through a haze of pain. I thought he hated me... I thought I hated him... Nothing makes sense anymore...
--
Denali shrugged. "True enough of any attack..." As Shadow charged towards him, one of the shadowy tendrils grabbed him while the other lashed along his side, tearing through his skin, before tossing him away. "Unfortunately, none of your attacks seem to qualify..."
He sent another tendril slashing toward Shadow as he leaped, aiming to land on the other male's back. From there, a quick killing bite would finish this...

Hanala whimpered, sucking in a gasp of breath. She turned her head to stare at Tekai. "I...can't" she gasped "walk" she said. "Go...help...them...fight.." she cringed. "Humans....Please...they'll help. I...can" another gasp of air "Take...care...of...myself" she said, then winced, closing her eyes and trying to ignore the pain in her shoulder, leg and chest. Wich was a hard thing to do. She flicked her tail and realized a human had try to cut her back, but only got fur, and was grateful for that. She bit her toung to keep from wailing as she climbed painfully to her feet. She swayed unsteadily and tried to take a step, only to fall again. She knew, if she morphed, all these injuries would stay with her, so that was no help. She would just make herself walk, or stay here and die and make the others run, run far away, get help from another pack, SOMETHING but stand around and get themselves killed. So she flicked her ears back against her head and growled pathetically. "Go...see if you can find help" she managed to growl before gasping for air.

The human crumpled before him, body breaking like a porcelain doll. Firepaw looked vaguely unimpressed by this human's fall and slowly began to make his way across the clearing, hindered by both the stormy conditions and by the humans. There seemed to be no end of them...
A flaming cage gained his attention for a second, and Firepaw paused for a moment, watching the flames lick the air. His father was the only plausible wolf to be there.
Firepaw jumped over the carcass of a human, using that momentum to carry him into the chest of another human, bringing him down with a snap of his jaws to the man's throat. His goal was in sight now, not just in a bleary sense of smell. Windsinger and Blackfang. The only wolves he could turn to right now. He didn't like Moon, he was angry with his father, he hadn't seen Matsi around, that left Windsinger.
And, by definition, Blackfang as well.
Absently, Firepaw lunged at another human, but it was clear his heart wasn't in it. Of course, it was still a defenseless human, and said human was easy enough to bring down. Crimson staining his fangs, Firepaw continued his methodical advance, cutting down each human who got in his way, trying to ignore the growing pain in his wing.
He needed some instruction in this battle, now that his purpose was gone, and that left the two betas. Sesh was safe, if not well and whole, and, as he narrowly dodged another bullet by throwing himself at the ground, sending the bullet whistling over his head, Firepaw snarled to himself.
"Nearly there, Firepaw, nearly there." he repeated this to himself steadily as he forced himself to rise to his paws and stagger onwards.
"Windsinger, Blackfang." He was able to greet them at last, "And Tekai and Hanala." he was a little annoyed to see those two there, but, judging by the corpse nearby, Blackfang and his mate had been fighting.

Made entirely by Garrett. *nodnod* He's good at this stuff.

Windsinger wrinkled her nose, "Fur in my mouth." she muttered quietly when Blackfang shot her a look. Combine the fur with the coppery taste of blood, and then you had some nasty aftertastes lurking in your mouth.
"Hmm?" she jolted when Firepaw appeared, practically out of nowhere. She nodded her head in greeting towards the younger male, not sparing him much of her attention. She was mostly focused on surveying the camp around them which was scarred by the slowly licking flames and by the carcasses of both wolves and humans. Firepaw wasn't all important in that moment, and they were rather busy fighting. Still, she wasn't one to be rude. "Hello, Firepaw."
Jerking as a human began shouting, she turned her attention away from Firepaw and watched as Blackfang launched himself at a human with a snarl, taking down another two with a wave of water. She would have helped him, but she hadn't noticed the humans before he had.
Cursing Firepaw mentally for distracting her, Windsinger waited for Blackfang to finish them off, which he did with no trouble at all, it seemed.
When he began to speak, she listened intently, nodding her head. "That will do." Pausing before lunging forward, she turned to glance at Firepaw, "You stay here and watch them, all right?" Her blue gaze sought out his wounded wing meaningfully. He would be more of a hindrance than a help with that wing. He'd be distracted by the pain. At least Windsinger was good at focusing on something other than the pain in her leg. Firepaw wasn't so much.
Without waiting for him to respond or reply, Windsinger turned and stalked towards Blackfang, narrowing her eyes in the direction of the shouting human. "Is it time to confuse them?" she grinned at him. Even if she didn't necessarily enjoy the violence, if that was what it took, that was what she'd do. And besides, his idea did sound reasonable enough.

Tekai listened to Hanala, biting back a snort of laughter. No, duh, she couldn't walk. He wasn't quite sure why it was funny, but all he knew was that he was holding in laughter.
He was probably insane...
Or stressed. Either way, he was starting to get a little crazy.
Tekai frowned, "I can help them fight, if that's what you want." he muttered, looking distinctly unhappy. All he wanted to do was get the heck out of here, not fight. Fighting was not exactly high on his list of things he'd enjoy doing.
Wait... Humans would help? And he'd thought he was going crazy. Tekai frowned again, but this time, he didn't say anything.
Take care of herself? Yeah, right. Tekai snorted in disgust.
"Don't get--" he started to warn her, but it was a little late. She'd already crumpled to the ground. Sheesh. Was he the only one around here with a self-preservation instinct? Windsinger and Blackfang had come charging into this battle, and here Hanala was trying to get up like an idiot.
By the Spirit Pack, one of these days, he'd have to teach them how to save their own fur.
"You're in no position to order me around." Tekai couldn't resist pointing that out, glancing down at her as Firepaw approached.
The other male's words brought a snarl to Tekai's chest (he wouldn't be talked down to as if he were an idiot!), but Tekai swallowed the snarl firmly. Infighting would not do. "Hello, Firepaw."
Frowning again as Windsinger ordered Firepaw to stay back and watch over them (they didn't need to be watched!), Tekai silently observed Firepaw.
|
[/blockquote]

Shadow snarled, struggling against the shadows as they wrapped around his side and the other lashed against him, drawing blood. He gave another snarl as the ground disappeared from beneath him. Crashing into the ground, his ears rang furiously, blocking any words Denali might have said. After a moment, the ringing subsided, allowing Shadow to stagger to his feet. Ears plastered against his skull, he glanced around, preparing to charge towards Denali. Of course, almost as soon as he got up, something slammed into his back, sending his legs buckling from beneath his body. Well, wasn't this just dandy?

Blackfang glanced at Firepaw as he approached, but didn't speak. He was rather occupied, after all. He waited for Windsinger to join him, then nodded. "I don't know if this will do anything, but if we can kill him, there's a chance it'll weaken them." He shrugged. "And a chance is better than nothing..."
He gestured toward the human ahead, who was surrounded by another seven armed humans. "I'll send in my illusions first to confuse them. Then I'll go in and try and knock away the guards. After that, all you need to do is rush past them, kill the human, and then we clean the guards up. Not that complicated - hopefully..."
He turned, then started to put his plan into action, summoning more illusions and sending them into the humans' midst. They fired wildly, then switched to using long blades of some sort when the illusions came too close. Their confusion wouldn't last long, though - they'd realize they were only fighting fakes. Blackfang ran in after them, knocking aside three of them with a wave of water and tearing the throat out of another. A stray bullet glanced into his left leg, but it didn't break the bone. He winced, but managed to bring another human down. Would that be enough for Windsinger? Probably...
|
[/blockquote]

Denali grinned in midair, sensing that his landing would be perfect... but then Shadow collapsed. He hadn't planned on that - he thought the male had enough in him to simply take the blow. Denali overshot slightly, and was forced to turn back around and attack Shadow, giving the other male time to get to his feet. "Feeling frail?" he sneered. "I can help with that..." He prepared to charge Shadow, but a lash of light stopped him; a lightning bolt had landed between them for a moment. The storm truly was a storm now, and several trees were aflame from the lightning strikes... Denali shrugged. The chance of lightning hitting him was practically nil. And if it did... well, there wasn't really anything he could do, then, was there? He grinned slightly, beginning to enjoy the fight. He sent dual tendrils of shadow launching towards Shadow, summoning a shadowy orb beside him at the same time. Inwardly, he reflected on the fact that Shadow had been barely using his flame abilities... it made the fight much easier...

Casanova frowned, wondering why this place was filled with humans. Looking over to her brother, she hoped he would help them, and not just sit there like a moron. Lantern must have noticed her glance, because he seemed to be avoiding her stare, not wanting that hard feeling of guilt on his shoulders, and after a moment he finally nodded slightly and trotted to the battle field.
