Shadow howled. Loudly. There was no way anyone on the Frost Pack lands could miss it.
And then he waited. He was perched on a rock with Matsi at his side.
The first few wolves arrived, and before long, the clearing was nearly filled. Shadow didn't wait much longer, and he cleared his throat, taking solace in Matsi by his side, "Wolves of the Frost Pack, Matsi and I have something to tell you." Shadow sighed heavily, but it wasn't loud enough that anyone other than Matsi could hear it.
At last, he went on, struggling to find the right words, "You might have noticed, perhaps, that Matsi and I have fought for many seasons to protect this pack, and also, that it is wearing on us." he lifted his head proudly, but it looked so pitiful that even Shadow could tell.
He gulped painfully. He didn't want to tell them this. He just wanted to lead the pack until he died. Shadow didn't want anyone to doubt that he was the greatest pack leader there had ever been. He couldn't let anyone laugh at him the way he had when he was a pup, but there was no way to escape it. Heavily, he went on. "Matsi and I will be stepping down from the rank of Alpha, to be replaced by her brother," here he glanced at her for confirmation, before going on, "Moon Silverpelt. Blackfang, who has been acting as our unofficial beta, will step up to become the Beta, along with his mate, Windsinger. Finally, the Delta is deemed to be Sunfire, though he has not been seen since the storm." his voice was strong and powerful, "Members of the Frost Pack, you will treat them with the respect they deserve for their new ranks." his voice carried the weight of an Alpha, perhaps for the last time, and Shadow looked so ashamed, utterly heartbroken as he jumped down from the rock stiffly, wincing as his paws touched the ground, and he stepped off to the side respectfully, letting Moon climb up onto the rock.
It was the end of an era, and the beginning of another, and hopefully Shadow would get to see it. He walked stiffly away from the rock, his joints creaking in annoyance until he settled down on the fringes of the group of wolves.
---
Windsinger leaned over Sesh, brushing her nose through the yearling's fur, "It looks like Shadow has a problem, I'll be back soon. If you think you are capable of coming out to see the 'speech', you may come. I trust your judgment, young one."
She padded out of the shelter provided by the fallen tree, sliding up to the front of the gathered wolves as she watched Shadow. She'd mostly forgiven him - how could she not? He was her brother, she loved him, and waited silently for him to begin.
Wolves of the Frost Pack, Matsi and I have something to tell you. Uh-oh. That couldn't be good.
And Shadow's next words proved her right. You might have noticed, perhaps, that Matsi and I have fought for many seasons to protect this pack, and also, that it is wearing on us.
Where was he going with this? she wondered, but as she glanced around for Blackfang, he went on.
Matsi and I will be stepping down from the rank of Alpha, to be replaced by her brother, Moon Silverpelt. Blackfang, who has been acting as our unofficial beta, will step up to become the Beta, along with his mate, Windsinger. Finally, the Delta is deemed to be Sunfire, though he has not been since the storm.
Windsinger looked up at her brother, utter surprise in her eyes as he leapt down from the rock stiffly, and in silently, she strode up to the base of the rock, the proper place for a beta, brushing her tail against his shoulder as she moved.
She didn't feel right here. She didn't deserve it. She was a healer, not a beta. It was strange to feel the rock, sturdy and steady as she was supposed to be against her back, but Windsinger didn't give it away in her gaze, nor did she give it away in her stance.
She wasn't talking, so that wasn't an issue. Later, she'd have to appear as if she were worthy of being beta, but for now, she was fine here, just sweeping her gaze across the wolves, noting Firepaw and the others. It didn't look as if many were missing, just a few that hadn't been seen since the storm.
Saerue, for one. Tala and Kida as well. There were others, like Sunny that had been mentioned by Shadow.
---
Firepaw was walking, but he wasn't alone. He didn't like the company, but recently, after Windsinger had told him that Sesh didn't want to see him anymore, Breeze was the only wolf who'd talk to him, and he wasn't going to alienate her as well.
A howl, proud and strong, resounded over the horizon. Firepaw jolted, but turned his orange gaze towards his friend, "Come on, let's go see what Father has to say!" he didn't wait for her to reply, but bounded away exuberantly towards the source of the sound.
He was one of the last few wolves to arrive, and therefore missed the beginning to his father's speech, not that he minded. He'd known something big was going to happen for a while now, from the secretive way that Matsi and Shadow had been talking. The first few lines of the speech wouldn't be all that important, anyways. His father had always had a flair for the dramatic.
Matsi and I will be stepping down from the rank of Alpha, to be replaced by her brother, Moon Silverpelt. Blackfang, who has been acting as our unofficial beta, will step up to become the Beta, along with his mate, Windsinger. Finally, the Delta is deemed to be Sunfire, though he has not been seen since the storm.
Okay, the first few things weren't much of a surprise. Firepaw had noticed how his parents were aging, so he wasn't all that surprised since they were stepping down, nor by their choice in successor. He sat up a little straighter when they moved on to Beta, but he didn't expect to receive the rank that soon. It was, however, Sunny getting the rank of Delta that infuriated him.
He jumped to his paws, baring his fangs, before jerking himself back onto haunches. He couldn't betray his anger, or his hurt. Would Sunny be a better Delta even now that he was missing? Betrayal blazed in his orange eyes as he gazed at his father, who gave no sign of having seen him.
He whipped his head wildly from side to side, before lowing that same head, and stopping. Just freezing. He needed to breath, or else he'd go after someone and rip their throat out.
---
Sahara had chosen the shelter of a tree for her den as well. It was a well shielded place where no one need intrude upon her. Her two pups were sleeping at her stomach, and she had to admit, they were fairly cute that young.
She rose to her feet wobbily, unused to walking, and gently nudging Daharro and Riverdancer awake, "Come on, you two." she murmured softly, shepherding them into the clearing, and settling them at her paws near the back of the clearing. Wolves arrived all around her, and she didn't deign to greet any of them. It didn't matter anyways. They were all below her.
Shadow began speaking, and she idly tuned out. She doubted it had anything to do with her.
Following his mother's example, Daharro settled near Sahara's paws and tuned as well. This is boring... he thought to himself, casting a glance up at his mother, then edging sideways and leaping upon his sister.
He couldn't help it. This stupid energy he felt swirled inside him, and he couldn't resist letting it all out.
Sahara smiled gently, an expression filled with a mother's love on her face. It was strange, and looked odd on a face designed for snarling, and Sahara could only remember feeling this way once. Tipony had been her pup as much as these two were, with the exception of biological blood between them.
---
He still limped slightly when he walked into the clearing, his tail had healed slightly crookedly. Fornae didn't blame Wim for either, nor did he blame the Omega for the place where a fang used to be.
It didn't matter. Fornae had mostly healed now, though he would always limp, and his tail would likely never be straightened.
Fornae didn't mind, though. He was still as strong as always, even if he would never run as fast as the other wolves, and would never hunt with them.
Unconsciously, his tongue moved towards the empty space in his gums. He still worried at that all the time, despite the fact that his gums were irritated by it. He settled down by Sahara, mainly because he knew she wouldn't talk to him. He didn't like the pity everyone seemed to think he needed.
He listened to the beginning of Shadow's speech, letting it slide through one ear and out the other. It was only the beef of the matter that he actually paid attention to;
Matsi and I will be stepping down from the rank of Alpha, to be replaced by her brother, Moon Silverpelt. Blackfang, who has been acting as our unofficial beta, will step up to become the Beta, along with his mate, Windsinger. Finally, the Delta is deemed to be Sunfire, though he has not been since the storm.
He knew Firepaw would be unhappy, but ever since Sesh had taken his advice, Fornae didn't care. He was slightly disappointed that he hadn't been named Delta, but he'd known it was an impossibility. Fornae was crippled now, he'd never be able to hunt with the pack, therefore, he could not be Delta. He couldn't have a trusted rank in the pack if he couldn't hunt. Hunting was what being a wolf was about.
Not that Fornae cared.
Okay, who was he kidding? He did care. He would never be a full wolf, everyone would look down on him.
Forever, unless he changed that, somehow, but he didn't know how. What was he going to do, though? There wasn't anything he really could do. Fornae rubbed his tongue along the gum there, tilting his gaze towards the sky and snorting to himself. This wasn't going to be as fun as he'd thought it would be.
Why had he even bothered to show up again? Oh yeah, Sesh and Hanna. He hadn't really seen either in a while (wasn't Sesh's fault, Windsinger wasn't really letting visitors in, and he'd just been avoiding wolf company for a while, which was why he hadn't seen Hanala in a while. Well, and Tekai. But Tekai wasn't much of an issue.), so he'd shown up, reluctant though he might've been about it.
But this was turning out to be fairly good. Fornae glanced at Firepaw as he lashed his head from side to side like an idiot.
---
Tekai was sleeping when Shadow howled, sleeping in the corner of the camp in a small square of space. It was all Shadow had alloted to him, quoting something about the land being over-burdened, however, he and the Alpha had made a deal.
Tekai would hunt for Fornae, and because of that, he would stay. He was staying for the friend he had made, Hanala. He liked her enough that he was enduring the dynamics of a pack so similar to the one that blinded him, for her.
He jerked up briskly, walking over to join the group of wolves, finding himself settled beside Sahara as well, though for different reasons than Fornae did. He just wanted to feel alone, and Sahara was settled on the fringes of the grouping, so he joined her, his gaze fixed straight ahead.
He, like Daharro, Sahara, and partially Fornae, was paying no attention what-so-ever. Whatever it was, he didn't care. This pack wasn't his pack, he was merely there for a friend.
And to prove to himself that not all packs are evil. Either way, he was going to stay here until the summer arrived.
Once the summer arrived, he was leaving. He doubted he could remain here past one season...
He was jolted from his considerations by Daharro tackling his sister, and he twitched, forcing himself to look as if he were paying attention. Packs were so boring...

Hanala sighed and got up. She shook her fur and walked over to sit next to Tekai. She sat down. She was bored, and wanted to try hunting again. Maybe she could ask him. SHe cast a sideways glance at Tekai. She could catch some birds, but nothing else really. But she hadn't tried in a month or so. She sighed and rolled her eyes, ignoring what the alphas mostly said and yawning.
````````` Snow sat down at the very edge of the gathering. She snarled. She was /Wims/ pup, then /Sunnys/ and now no ones. She sighed and flopped down. She wanted to have /someone/ All she basicly ate were bugs. She clawed on a tree nearby and left. No one cared. She was just a nuicense.
````````` Wim sat down and listened to Shadow. He flinched slightly. Moon was going to be leader? Shadow and matsi were /experienced/ Moon was just...well moon. He turned to Look at other wolves reactions and noticed Fornae. He shook his head, and guilt filed into him. He should have done better. For Fornae.

Tekai swished his tail in greeting as Hanala padded over to settle down at his side, "Hello there." he grinned cheerfully, "Did you see Firepaw practically go after Shadow? I can't really blame him, though. We haven't seen Sunfire since the storm, ya know? And it's not like anyone could be Delta other than him. I'd be fairly ticked if my father didn't recognize that." he made a great show of yawning, and snorted to himself.

Hanala nodded, laughing. "It was the only intresting part. He was so mad. It looked like he was going to attack them" she chuckled. She swished her tail. "Wanna hunt? Maybe I could catch more than bird this time" she asked. Her ears flicked around, but she couldn't hear anything but wolves.

Tekai laughed, "Indeed it was the only interesting part. As long as Moon doesn't go back on Shadow's deal with me, I'll be fine with the change of leadership, and Blackfang was our unofficial beta; so why should we care about that?" he snorted to himself, but as she went on, he had to admit he agreed with the change of topic.
"We might as well. Fornae looks hungry, and I doubt that, by this point, they'll care if we leave."

Hanala got up and shook her pelt, laughing. "True." she laughed. She smiled then sighed. "Cant all these wolves just shut up?" she asked. She walked to the edge of the woods and smelled. Her ears twitched and she looked back at Tekai. "We could try a deer or wild pig" she said. She smiled and bobbed her head back and forth.

At Shadow's call, Blackfang got up from where he'd been lying near the border of the clearing and moved to stand closer, so that he could hear better. What did Shadow want, anyway? The pack had been doing fairly well since the end of winter, prey no longer being so scarce. Shadow rarely made announcements about good news, so this was probably bad... Wolves of the Frost Pack, Matsi and I have something to tell you. Now he was sure it was something bad. After all, how often was Shadow so formal? He glanced over at Windsinger, who had just left Sesh. She'd been doting over the younger female for the past three months or so, while Sesh recovered from her injuries, which no one was quite sure how she had gotten, anyway. Apparently, Sesh didn't want it common knowledge, so the only wolves who knew the full story were Windsinger, Firepaw, and herself. Oh, and she might have told her brother, too. Blackfang wasn't sure. He briefly considered going over to stand with his mate, but decided against it for the moment. He'd just keep listening. You might have noticed, perhaps, that Matsi and I have fought for many seasons to protect this pack, and also, that it is wearing on us. Well, at least he knew what was going on now. Shadow and Matsi had finally decided to step down. Blackfang had thought they had given up on that idea after all of the initial objections - mostly his objections - to Moon and Reyanne becoming leaders. That, and Reyanne's death, though Blackfang couldn't feel thankful for that. But apparently it had just delayed it by almost two seasons. He frowned momentarily, wondering whether he should object again. Moon was a member of the pack now, though, and he'd never given anyone a reason not to trust him. His partner had given her life for the pack. He knew the territory as well as anyone else now, though that was mostly due to the fact that they had had to move their camp to the lake after the humans had destroyed the camp before. Still, Blackfang wasn't entirely comfortable with Moon becoming Alpha. But on what grounds could he base any objections? Aside from personal dislike, there really wasn't any reason why Moon shouldn't become Alpha. Matsi and Shadow were rather... well, they weren't as physically capable as they had been before. Moon was the same age, but he wasn't crippled. A crippled leader was fine, of course - it was the mind that mattered - but if Matsi and Shadow wanted to step down, no one could stop them. Besides, it would be rather ridiculous to force a wolf to remain a leader... That jolted Blackfang out of his thoughts, and he just stared at Shadow in shock for a moment. Shadow was making him the beta? For a second, he just felt too shocked to move. Yes, he'd been doing a few of the normal beta's duties, as they hadn't had one, but he'd just been taking his share of the work. He hadn't been trying for a promotion... And Shadow had chosen him? Shadow still wasn't happy about how Blackfang was his sister's mate. He'd kept his word by not treating them as enemies, but Blackfang had at least expected that Shadow would try to keep him and Windsinger from getting any promotions or other privileges. And here he was just giving them a higher rank? He shared a shocked glance with Windsinger, then padded forward to stand with her, trying not to show just how surprised he was. He certainly wasn't going to object now... Which might have been the reason Shadow had chosen him, so that he wouldn't dissent. Blackfang didn't really mind. He might have done the same thing, after all... He looked out over all the wolves assembled. The entire pack was here... his pack. His home. His life. He glanced at Windsinger for a second. His partner. Then he turned his gaze back to the pack, proudly taking it all in. He'd never tried to become a leader of any kind before. But he could be one. He knew it... --- Sesh smiled. Windsinger had treated her well these past months. She'd come to enjoy the older female's company quite a bit, especially since she'd been mostly confined to the camp the entire time. Her injuries had mostly healed, but Windsinger had told her she still wasn't supposed to do any serious fighting, and to try and avoid getting hurt again. Well, duh. But she supposed saying things like that was Windsinger's job... Besides, she'd need some company, anyway. She quite literally hadn't spoken to Firepaw in about two months, after he had snuck past Windsinger and tried to talk to her. She'd gone ballistic on him. He was probably lucky that had been when she was still too injured to move much. She might have attacked him, if she could have. She'd been so angry... She got to her feet and stretched, feeling her shoulder twinge slightly. She glanced at it, noting the large black patch of fur that had grown over it. The burn scar was no longer visible, unless you actually felt the flesh there. But Sesh always knew it was there. She wasn't sure if she'd ever be as strong with that shoulder as she had been once. She walked with a slight limp now, though it was nearly impossible to notice it. She could still run nearly as fast as before. Her powers, however, had actually increased, as she now had a larger store of energy to draw on. She supposed it might make up for her physical weaknesses. Her fur had also changed color slightly, becoming a bit more brown than gray. Whether that was due to her earth powers, or just part of growing older, she wasn't sure. She wasn't sure if she cared, either. Did it matter? She walked out into the main clearing, deciding to go find Fornae. She still saw him all the time. That was nice. He seemed more open to her now that she'd rejected Firepaw; she knew Fornae hadn't liked him. And Sesh was glad to have Fornae around; she needed someone to talk to when Windsinger wasn't around. She'd found that she could sense him when he was reading her mind now. Probably because they were siblings. It was a nice feeling, to be able to sense someone else in her mind. It was closer than just talking. She liked that. Plus, it allowed them to communicate fairly silently. And it was a kind of contact with him that Tipony couldn't share. Sesh sighed. Tipony. She didn't really like the other female. She couldn't really put her paw on it. Maybe it was just because she didn't like the thought of anyone taking her brother from her. Fornae and Hanala were really all she had left, now that she didn't even have Firepaw. But Sesh also knew that Fornae liked Tipony. Well, maybe 'liked' wasn't the right word. Fornae found her attractive. Sesh could tell that. And unfortunately, Tipony seemed to display the same feelings towards Fornae. Sesh didn't want to lose her brother, though she knew that, in truth, she wouldn't actually 'lose' him. But she'd no longer be the closest wolf to him. He'd have other priorities... She wasn't jealous, of course. Sesh didn't want a sappy relationship with anyone. She just wanted things to stay the same... besides, Hanala was a good example of why not to get involved with anyone. Sesh rolled her eyes, thinking about it. Right from Sunny to Tekai in less than a day. First she was heartbroken one moment, and the next madly in love... again. With a blind wolf, no less. On the other hand, anyone was better than Sunny. Still, Sesh didn't want Hanala hurt again, which she was sure would happen if Hanala remained with Tekai. Friendships caused pain. Relationships caused even more. Was she the only wolf who could see that? Sheesh. I'd think I wouldn't be the only wolf with enough sense to avoid them. But apparently the rest of the pack isn't as smart as I thought.... Well, excluding Windsinger. She seemed to be happy with Blackfang. But the rest of the time, relationships didn't work out. Like Dark and Sahara - they still didn't do well together. Even after pups. I wonder what possessed Sahara to have pups with a wolf who wasn't even her partner at the time? She shrugged. It wasn't really her business... She wandered out into the clearing, spotting Fornae sitting by Sahara. Good - Tipony isn't with him. She walked over to him, only limping slightly. Along the way, she noticed Firepaw, but she didn't even give him a glance. He had betrayed her... And it had hurt. A lot. In truth, she hadn't realized how much it had hurt her until she had to cope with being alone. Yes, Windsinger and Fornae had been there, but Windsinger was a lot older, and Fornae spent half his time - maybe more - with Tipony. Firepaw had been her best friend... She missed him. Well, that wasn't quite right. She missed the old him, before Sunny had come back and ruined everything. Even though Sunny had disappeared, the damage had been done. They never even spoke anymore. She wanted to, at the same time that she didn't want to. She wanted the old Firepaw back, but she didn't want to see the new one. She didn't even trust him any more... Maybe she would talk to him later. No, she knew she wouldn't. She always considered it, but never did it. She couldn't work up her courage enough to do it. Or, for that matter, ignore her mind telling her what a bad idea it was. Sometimes she hoped he would come to her, instead. But he hadn't even tried since that one time he had snuck in to see her... Perhaps it's for the best, she reflected. Now, he can't hurt me anymore...She sat down next to Fornae. "Hey," she greeted him, giving him a friendly lick as she sat down, instantly comfortable. Being with her brother had that effect. As long as Tipony wasn't around, of course. She listened with surprise as Shadow announced that he and Matsi were stepping down, and that Moon would replace them with Blackfang and Windsinger as Betas. She smiled softly, glad for Windsinger, though she couldn't help but giggle slightly at the two of them up there. They looked completely and utterly lost, though Blackfang was trying hard not to show it. Clearly, they hadn't been expecting this... She wasn't sure if she was glad Moon was leader now, though. She didn't really like him. He was too grumpy. Then again, so was Matsi. She snickered slightly. Maybe there was a rule saying leaders had to be grouchy... Then she frowned. "Wait... Sunny?" she murmured, unaware that she was speaking aloud. Sunny had been gone for three months - he had vanished during the storm, and no one had seen him since. That was the second time he had vanished, after being back for only two days. What a stupid decision, she thought. Letting a wolf who obviously has no loyalty to the pack and isn't even here be Delta. He might be dead, for all we know."Why would they choose Sunny?" she asked Fornae quietly. Maybe he saw some method to this madness... Sunny never would make a good leader, anyway. They should have given the position to Fornae, or maybe Firepaw... She frowned, realizing what she was thinking. No, Firepaw couldn't be trusted with any power. Fornae definitely would have been the right choice. But he had been injured, which might be why he hadn't been selected. Though he was mostly fine now... Still, choosing a wolf who wasn't even here over those that were seemed stupid. It was like Shadow didn't want the position filled at all... That might be it. Maybe he didn't trust anyone enough to give it to them, but he wasn't willing to announce that he didn't trust the pack members. Giving it to someone absent made it seem less obvious... It was still stupid, she decided. Then she brightened slightly. Shadow wasn't in charge any more - now Moon was. Moon could appoint a new Delta, with or without Shadow's approval. Maybe he won't be so bad after all, concluded Sesh. Even if he's the grumpiest wolf in the pack...---- Awards: Seshana: 7895 characters approx. 12,145 characters approx.

Becky’s eye’s flittered open as she awoke. She was laying in a tall tree that she had been using as sort of a homey area. Her lazy eyes looked below. There lay Luna, coiled up in a pile of grass her white coat made her stick out from the surrounding area. Although Luna was still young, she had been here for a few months now so she wandered away from Becky every now and then. Becky looked around, she could hear alpha shadow talking, his voiced carried enough that both of them could hear him even though they were a ways away. Becky rose and jumped down with a swift movement then turned to the pup, nudging her. “Luna.. Shadow is speaking. We got to go lesion” she said softly. Luna rolled over, refusing to wake up, she was stubborn today. She shook her head, “fine, sleep in. I’ll be right back” she smiled turning and walking to the area were the alpha was. Becky was surprised by his words, inside she didn’t want him to step down. He was by far one of the best alpha’s she sort of knew. She shivered slightly, even though her dark fur kept her warm. It wasn’t her say what those two did, she was just glad they didn’t let firepaw be alpha, thank god.

Slowly, Quietly, Silver took his steps at the edge of the campsite. He knew the others disliked him, it wasn’t his fault. So now he kept his presences here a secret, he just needed a place to stay, they didn’t need to know. He hasn’t talked to the other wolves in at least three months so they probly thought he left, or died. He shrugged, stopping to stare at a flower that looked like it just bloomed. Faintly he could hear a male speak, he didn’t pay attention though. The flower was the only thing on his mind right now, well not really the flower, he was staring at a bug that rested on its leaves. He was deciding weather to squash it or not. He shook his head, he was such a softy. He wasn’t going to kill it, everything had a life, and bugs had shorter ones. He couldn’t go though the day having his conscience on the poor bug that he killed.

((warning...have a dead brain...gonna do my best))
Matsi stood on the rock, dispare in her chest. She looked on as her pack filed into the clearing. Her Pack... She felt pride swell in her heart. She was only Three summers when she claimed the first pack lands and met the first pack members, Shadow, and Leo. She wrapped her tail around her feet, her black wings spread slightly, taking in the warm sunlight. Memories of those first months flowed into her mind. Void, Shadow and StormDancer, all trying for her heart. Void vanishing, Shadow winning her until she dies. Her eyes searched for her only present son, then drifted to the background, a few yards behind Sahara, to look at her daughter. During all of his announcement, Matsi listened to shadow, both pride and sorrow drifting into her heart and chest. After he had silenced, she stayed on the rock as Moon took up position where shadow had stood. ''My Friends, My Family, My pack,'' Matsi started. Her voice, though aged, was still as musical as it was back when she had called to shadow for the first time. ''I have...an announcement, and appology to say,'' She said as she nodded to IcePelt. Icepelt began to walk forward, passing Sahara first then the rest of the pack. She could feel eyes on her. ''A little over a year and a half ago, we were attacked by humans for the first time,'' She said as she stood. ''Ripple and Sunny were taken, And my only daughter loyally followed her brother and friend, determind to help them. But, her plans were failed and she too was caputred. When i returned, i had a black pup, dead, and told you that icepelt had been murdered by the humans,'' She paused as IcePelt stood at the base of the rock and turned to look at the pack. ''I lied,'' Matsi said softly as she looked at Shadow with hurt eyes. ''I was frantic, paniced when i grabbed the pup, and only mid flight back to the pack camp did i realize that i had grabbed the wrong pup. That is why i burned the pup, to keep my mistake hidden.'' She Paused again for a moment. ''I lived the next year in fear, and panic. But when i spent my own time with the humans, i did not see her. I hoped to SpiritPack that she had escaped. And, during the winter, I found out that she had.'' She looked down at her fully grown black and silver daughter with love. ''Frost Pack. Please, forgive my young mistake, and welcome back IcePelt of the Ice,'' She said strongly as she looked at the pack once more, then she too lept from the rock. ____________________________ Moon Listened to Shadow with much respect. He knew it had to be done, but he did not want to see the strong pair leave the leading role. He looked at his sister as Shadow said his name and he got up and took the old ex-alpha male's place. He was highly surprised when Matsi didnt step down. He knew, though, immediatly what it was about. He looked to IcePelt and rememebred when she had shown up. He couldnt help but smile at the young female as she got closer to the rock. He could hear the pain in Matsi's voice as she spoke. He wondered how much pain she had been under since IcePelt had left. He guessed alot, just judging by how she acted. When matsi finally stepped down, Moon stood tall. ''Icepelt, you are one of us, officially, now,'' He said to her just loud enough for the others to hear, then he threw his head back and howled. ________________________________ Tipony ran, she could hear shadow starting to speak. She found Fornae quickly and sat next to him, panting. Blood from a recent kill stained her face. Her stomach was slightly bulging from stuffing herself. She was enjoying the new plentiful supply of food. She only half way payed attention to Shadow, but matsi held her attention. She looked at the black fea. //Shes so pretty// Tipony said as her tail wrapped halfway around Fornae in a possesive manor. She wasnt going to loose him now, after fighting for him so much during the winter. ___________________ Dark silently watched from the shadows. He was behind Sahara, watching the pups, standing gaurd for his pups and mate. He couldnt help but snicker at Daharro and RiverDancer as they began to fight. He wondered if Sahara had let anyone see them directly yet, or if anyone knew that they were his and hers. He didnt care though. He looked back up as moon took Shadow's spot. ''Good choice,'' He muttered to himself. Matsi's speech about made Dark's jaw drop. He couldnt believe it... ___________________ RiverDancer giggled and growled as she bit her brother's ear. She tried to keep somewhat quiet, but couldnt help herself as she threw her brother off and ran to her mother's other side, baring her small milkteeth and growling at her darker brother. ______________________ Breeze followed FirePaw, though much slower than him, she still followed. She sat somewhat close to him, but more closely to the rest of the pack. She listened...intently. She tried to ignore firepaw, knowing his annoyance, and pain. _________________________ FireHeart sat on the far edge of the clearing, just laying in the sun. He was not interested in what was going on, for he would be leaving soon. He trusted that his daughters and son were in a good place now. He knew he could leave them and go somewhere, now that his heart was at ease. __________________________ As Moon threw back his head, Matsi threw hers back and was soon followed by Icepelt, Dark, Breeze and Tipony.

Fornae flicked an ear towards Sesh's words, knowing full well that she didn't expect a reply yet; she'd make it clear when she was ready. He could wait. And sure enough, it arrived. Fornae knew the answer instantly, it was the only reasonable answer, "They made the decision before the storm. And I doubt they were in any shape to change their plans after the storm." Fornae reflected on those terrible days spent clearing the fallen tree branches (not that he'd had to do any of it) and other debris, as well as burning the snow out. The pups had to be able to touch the ground, after all. Fornae snorted to himself, "If they'd been more prepared for it, the cleaning would've gone easier. I, for one, could've organized better." it wasn't a lie. With nothing much to do than sit around and observe, he'd quickly figured out how the pack ticked even better than he had reading their minds. Firepaw, for example, should work with Breeze, or alone. Shadow could work with anyone, pretty much, and Breeze was still largely a loner in their pack. She mostly should've worked alone, unless it was with Firepaw. There we go, the majority of the schematics were solved. And it had taken him, what, five seconds? Honestly. Sometimes Alphas were so blind to what existed right under their noses. However, Matsi began to speak. Halfheartedly, he shushed Sesh, though he knew his sister would keep quiet once Matsi started talking. Mostly, he was watching her facial expressions, working on reading them without reading her mind. She was scared, it appeared, as well as angry? No, she had to be sad. Yeah, that fit in with her words. "Icepelt? Has she lost her mind?" he turned his gaze towards Sesh with a snort of disgust. When Tipony arrived, he started slightly as he felt her tail wrap around his shoulders. Whoops, Sesh would be pissed. Oh well. ---- Windsinger was listening with a dedicated ear pricked backwards towards Matsi, her blue eyes sweeping across the gathered pack members. She dipped her head in greeting towards Sesh, though she doubted the young female could see it. Still, she turned her head towards Icepelt as the young female strode up to the pack, narrowing her eyes slightly. Were they just supposed to accept Matsi's words that this was Icepelt? Why should they? Icepelt was dead. Matsi jumped down lightly from the rock, followed by Moon clambering up on it. She laughed dryly to herself as Moon spoke, but then, when he spoke, between that and the howl, Windsinger spoke. There was the barest hint of reluctance in her voice as she spoke, "Yes, I suppose you are." Windsinger, however, was not one to fail on the job, and she threw her head back to howl as well. Her voice resounded in the air, knowing full well that she could decide later on who this Icepelt really was. She flattened her ears against her skull, making her head more streamlined, and she bared her fangs, letting her disbelief bleed into the howl as well. Blackfang would hear it and believe it, but no one who did not know her would not. --- Firepaw narrowed his eyes, getting briskly to his feet and stalking away. He didn't have time for this, besides which, he already knew Icepelt was back. He didn't need to wait around while the pack debated whether or not to accept her. He brushed easily past his father, vaguely surprised that no one he'd seen had moved to stop him, casting a glance over his shoulder to gaze at Sesh, and at Breeze, though Breeze merely got a cursory glance. She was his friend by default - the only member of the pack left who would speak to him. Sunny's poison had spread far and wide, and Firepaw refused to let it touch him, no matter how much it hurt him. As long as he kept a cool exterior and did everything the pack asked of him and more (as he'd done during the camp clean-up. He'd gone to sleep exhausted every night exhausted, and no one had noticed, or cared.), some day they would see that he deserved to be at least a Delta. The shadows swallowed him then, and he padded slowly along, all semblances of not letting it hurt him gone (not that pretending not to have been hurt mattered now. He'd betrayed his shock, and cursed every second of it. It had pushed him several steps back), and Firepaw's paws dragged along the ground, his tail following suit, and his head drooped dejectedly. --- Matsi had lied to him? Moon had known, obviously, and the rest of the pack probably had as well. He met her hurt look with cold eyes, anger flashing beneath the cold eyes, and he turned his head away as Firepaw stalked off. Suddenly, his son was appearing more and more smart. By the time Matsi had jumped down from the rock, he'd spared her a withering glare, flames dancing at his paws, and he was pacing away after Firepaw's trail. He obviously wanted to be alone, and if someone were stupid enough to follow him, he'd claw their ears off. Shadow snarled to himself, adjusting his course slightly, still following Firepaw's scent. He rather wanted to talk to his son, and besides which, he wanted to get out of this place. If Matsi felt able to lie to him like that, he was going to leave. He needed to be alone. "Firepaw?" he called out cautiously, narrowing his eyes slightly. He didn't really want to yell after his son, lest he angered the young wolf, but he needed to talk to his son. A branch snapped, and Shadow whirled around, only to discover a small squirrel scampering along a tree branch, a twig tumbling towards the earth. --- Daharro lunged after Riverdancer, a small (and playful) snarl in the back of his throat as he moved briskly after his sister, leaping on her again and baring his tiny fangs as well. "Got you!" he sang out. Sahara, who was watching and enjoying watching this entirely, swiping the two apart with a paw, "Shush!" she scolded, swiping Daharro towards her side, and Riverdancer towards the other. She liked watching the discord of the pack, and she didn't liked the foolishness of the same pack. It was fun to watch, to tell the truth, and Sahara found it entertaining to listen to the discord in the garden (If any of you know that song, I love you. xD) and to watch the pack spiral farther and father out of control. It was also nice to know that she could dodge that spiraling. She was not really a part of the pack, either. ---- Tekai blinked, "If you want to. I'd recommend a deer or something, but Fornae ain't feeling that picky, and whatever you want to hunt down is fine with me. I'll sense it long before they see us coming." he snorted to himself, flicking his tail cheerfully. He didn't mind hunting the more dangerous game, it proved himself to the other members of the pack.

Hanala nodded and flicked her tail, racing through the forest the best she could. She was better and faster now, but would never be as fast as she was. She raced until she heard the deer easily. She circled to wear she thought its side would be and crouched low, ready to chase it to Tekai if she had to. Or to catch it if it ran her way. She snarled low in her throat as her body instictivley took in the hunting stance. She clawed at the ground. She wished to chase after it. She was famished. She licked her lips, hoping they'ed catch this. She snarled again, and, when she thought Tekai was close enough, raced forward, flying through the air and raking her claws down the deers rump. She chased it towards Tekai, biting at its heels and raking at its thighs. She chased it until she was tired, but pushed on, leaping onto its back and scratching down its shoulders, holding on despratley.

Tipony sat there, her tail snug around Fornae. she listened silently, trying not to gasp out in disbelief. She had never met Icepelt as a pup, so she knew not what to think. She looked at fornae, wondering what she was thinking, but thought it best to stay silent and listen on, even after her own howl. ______ Breeze stood up and started after FirePaw, but when she saw Shadow going after him too, she decided to stay further away. She still walked after firepaw, but she walked far to shadow's side, just keeping him in line of one of her many senses. She wondered what they were going to talk about, but she truthfully didint care. She just wanted it to not result in blood shed. ___________________ IcePelt walked to her mother's side and looked after her father. ''Was it...'' She started, but matsi silenced her. ''It was for the best,'' She said softly, her voice cracked and old sounding. She sighed heavily and yawned. ''I need to rest,'' Matsi said as she walked off to her favorite sleeping spot, a dirt spot in the sun. IcePelt stayed where she was, and looked up at moon, who was sitting there, dissmissing the pack,
