Silver slowly made his way away around the tree, he was tired and bored. He had even slept the past few days just to be sure his wound was healed, though, he kept his fire wings at full length. He was anxious right now. He’d had a feeling the pass few weeks that something was going on, his nose never worked well for smelling things out so he wasn’t sure whom it was or if it was just a rabbit stalking him.

The approach of a wolf had not gone unnoticed by the men stationed to watch the lake area, just in case a few wolves had escaped their notice. It wasn't very likely, but they were there, and that was that. They didn't question their orders, even if they came from wolves. A few of them chafed slightly at the rule of a wolf, but they obeyed their superiors, and their superiors said to follow what the wolves said, so they did.
A branch rustled, and one of the more nervous men swung his gun up, fingers wrapped tightly around the trigger, a bead of sweat dripping down his forehead.
It wasn't nothing, but that didn't make the men any less anxious.
A twig snapped, and this time, more than the one man swung their guns toward the sound, scrambling out of the way as fast as they could, just in time for a single wolf to pad through the clearing.
A few quick hand signals, and the humans separated, their orders clear and fresh in their minds. The main segment would head just behind the male wolf, scare him, and then another two chunks would circle around and come in from the sides, leaving the wolf only one way to bolt, and that was into a dead in.
They only carried tranquilizer guns, left over from when they weren't supposed to kill, and their orders still hadn't been changed. They would not shoot to kill, because they still needed live samples. Live experiments, that kind of thing.
That was what they'd been told, anyways...
They drew closer towards the male, guns ready to fire.

The male spread his wings out to streach them. Something felt different right now, he couldnt exsplain it. he shook his head and curled up in a ball, his wings folding around him, though not touching him, so he wouldnt burn.
