Tairock strode up to them, only slightly winded. The darkness here was so thick he could feel it... just how he liked it. "What the hell is going on?" he demanded. "What did that nurse try to do to you?"
And, more importantly, how did they know about this hidden route? But Tairock didn't ask that yet - he'd learn, in time...

Cooper looked up, ‘I knew someone was following us..’ he thought to his brother. Adam nodded, seeing that he was the one that should reply. He waited a moment, having to think of words that would explain the injections. “The nurses were trying to poison gifteds that are of no use to them..” he said, his voice trailing off from not having any breath. Cooper looked at the other boy with no interest, why would he have to follow them? This wasn’t a game. If someone runs, don’t follow them. He tried to keep his thoughts to himself but his brother heard them, so he secretly lessoned to him rant on in his head about how the boy would ruin everything. Adam simply taped his brother’s shoulder to calm him down. Then the mood suddenly changed between them, they turned there heads to the boy. “why did you follow us?” they said in unison.

"Poison them?" demanded Tairock. "How do you know? And why hasn't anyone ever heard of this before?" In fact, most of the gifteds who had gone into the exam tents had come out fine...
Their question was logical, but he didn't really have much of an answer. "I got the impression that something dangerous was going on, and that standing around wasn't going to do a thing. And anywhere is better than where I was." He glanced around. "Where does this place gp, anyway?"

“They must have of some use if they came out fine” Cooper pressed. Adam looked down the tunnel, standing up. It was about time they started walking. “the tunnel leads to the outside city” they answered the other answer together. “come with us if you want,” Adam started only to have Cooper finish his statement. “but were going to come back to get the other’s”

Tairock frowned. "So then why weren't you any use?"
"The city..." muttered Tairock. It was perfect... too perfect. "There's got to be some kind of security, or others would have used this to escape before..."
He looked up. "You're going back? They'll catch you immediately! And besides, some of the other students are spies..."

The twins smiled, they knew about this place for a long time. “this place was here before the school came along, there used to be a town and this was a way to get to the city during a bad storm” Cooper began, “so when the town was broke down they built the school over it, totally forgetting the line beneath it.” Adam finished for him, they smiled “we found a old map in the library, the workers are such idiots” They said together. Adam looked at him, “I wasn’t any use because they already had cooper. Our power latches on to one mind, so as long as both of us are alive. Our minds are connected. But if I died then cooper’s mind would latch onto the next open one, like yours” Adam explained.

Tairock nodded slowly. That made sense... But still, he'd expect someone to know about it. And besides, eventually the guards would realize they had to be underground somewhere and start searching...
Tairock frowned. "Wouldn't the shock of having someone connected to you die kill you, too?" At least, that was how he had always heard it. Mind links were rare in the school. Which made sense - if they weren't any use, there wouldn't be many of them...

The twins started walking, ‘do we really need him following us?’ Adam asked mutely from his skull, though he wasn’t annoyed by him, they still didn’t need him around. Cooper avoided the thoughtless questions that streamed from his brother’s mind. “no, it wouldn’t kill the other person. It would hurt badly but not kill them.” Cooper spoke out, walking down the hall with his brother by his side. “that’s why we’re always together..” Adam said, not telling the whole truth. The REAL truth was that they didn’t want to make friends, they thought the world was made up of idiots.

Tairock nodded. "I suppose that makes sense..." Or it might drive them insane. He'd seen raving students taken away before. He just hadn't realized what had caused it...
He mentally shrugged. It wasn't really his concern. He didn't care about the other students, and he'd probably ditch these two the moment he could get out of here. In the mean time, though, he had to put up with them... "What's the entrance like on the other side of this tunnel? Is it locked or anything?"

They ignored him at first, they didn’t want him to be a third wheel. Adam shrugged, “it /was/ locked but one of the city people unlocked it.” he said coming to a point in the tunnel were they had to turn left or right, he picked left. “the teens were drunk when they opened it so they didn’t seem to care for these rats.” Cooper said glancing down at the dead rodents.

Tairock frowned. "So what's the catch? This is too easy..." He hadn't thought escape would be easy. In fact, it shouldn't be easy. Something was definitely not right here. "Are you sure we're alone down here?" he asked. The darkness seemed... alive. And not like it was when he controlled it...

The twins shrugged, he was right there was a few catches but they would come towards the end of the tunnel unless they disconnected everything properly. They let silent’s take over, they weren’t much for talking in fact this is the first outsider they ever talked to, well other than a teacher. Cooper turned his head to look at the boy, “we aren’t friends so please,” he began “don’t ask so many things” Adam finished coming towards the end of the tunnel.

Tairock rolled his eyes. "I don't give a damn whether you want me to answer questions or not. I'm only here because this seems like it might be a way for me to get the hell out of here... and I want to be sure I'm not walking into a trap." This still seemed too simple...
What was he going to do once he escaped, anyway? Tairock hadn't really thought about that much. Escape was his goal - why plan after it? After all, it had seemed so impossible only hours before...

/well I guess we got all the traps../ Adam thought shivering from having no shirt on, he glanced at his brother then, CLICK. A net wrapped around him and threw him into the air only to be stopped from falling from the thin rope holding him to the ceiling. Cooper gasped, surprised by the simple trap that his brother had sprung.

Tairock jumped slightly, surprised momentarily. Then he rolled his eyes. "Of course it had to be trapped..." He sighed. It looked like this would be more trouble than he had thought.
"Hang on, and don't move." Well, if all the traps were this simple, it might not be too hard. All he had to do was cut the rope holding the net. He reached for it... and barely managed to spot the second trap in time. "Great. Just great..." He frowned. This was even more complicated...
In fact, he couldn't figure out what it did. He also couldn't see any way to cut the first trap down without triggering the second. He sighed. "I suppose it would be too much to hope that you happen to be able to get out of there yourself?"
