Black paws made slight indentations in the soft grass as a slight she-wolf slipped into camp, doing her best not to be noticed. She had just joined this pack at the beginning of spring, and she was still a little jumpy. Her nature had led to her falling once again into the role of Omega, but here it wasn't considered to be a particularly bad thing. No one beat up on her, and no one put her down. They just let her be her within the pack, which was suiting her just fine so far. It was getting a bit lonely though. Robin was beginning to think that maybe it would be ok to let her guard down a bit and make some connections.
She settled into a nice shady spot on the edge of the clearing, stretching a bit before folding her legs under her. The question now was, how to approach the situation? She had never learned how to make friends, had never had anyone she wanted to be friends with. Her social skills were severely lacking, and it was a bit late in her life to try learning now.

Since Matsi's gone, I guess I have free characters, huh? Well, Robin, meet Opal. :3

Icepelt had recently gone off to hunt, leaving Opal to wander back to the clearing. Despite being a loner, he'd been met by fairly good reception from most of the pack, mainly because he was friends with Icepelt, and everyone was overjoyed to see her again, and besides, in light of the recent events, everyone was going to be rather absorbed in their own issues, so it was likely that no one would stop him. Yeah, they probably wouldn't, and he'd told Icepelt that he'd end up here, anyways, so he might as well get there sooner rather than later.
Absorbed in thought, he nearly stumbled over the tail of a strange female. He hadn't noticed her, but then again, he hadn't really been paying much attention to the pack, considering the fact that he'd been planning to leave as soon as possible. This pack was overbearing and strange, to tell the truth. He much preferred going where the wind might take him.
Rather belatedly, he glanced down at the female, "Sorry, didn't mean to nearly fall on you."
...And there was something else he should do. Something important... Oh, right! "Sorry, the name's Opal." Opal grinned sheepishly, glancing down at the female from where he stood beside her.

Mokai watched from the distance of the forest. Intrest in his eyes. He liked watching the dynamics of the pack, and how they interacted with others. He hoped, oh how he HOPED, that watching all of this would highten his chances to get into the pack. Yes, that was his goal.
___ Icepelt wanded back towards the clearing, a rabbit hanging limp in her maw. Her belly was distended with meat from the rest of the rabbit nest. She walked with a high head, proud of herself for catching something for Opal. Maybe now, he would understand...

Robin had been trying to decide on a way to meet some more of the pack, when an opportunity quite literally nearly fell into her lap. Someone had tripped over her, and on instinct, she shot up into a standing position facing the male wolf. Then she realized she had seen him around before. She wasn't sure if he was actually part of the pack, but he was at least accepted by them. That was good enough for her to loosen her tensed muscles and give him a small wolf smile. "It's alright. I'm Robin."
Another wolf entered the clearing, but she felt eyes on her. Her instincts on such things were sharp, and even though she didn't know who it was or where they were exactly, she knew that someone was watching her. Robin couldn't help a quick glance around, but seeing no one, she lowered onto her haunches. She slid her mask up, the one that kept her safe. Her tail was tucked beneath her, her ears were laid low on her skull, and she slouched where she sat. Submissive. That was always the way to go, play it safe and don't pose a threat. A strange kind of calmness settled on her as she entered into her familiar self, her safe self.

Mokai stepped into the clearing a slight bit more. For some reason, his caring of staying hidden faded away. He looked at Opal for a moment, then his blue pupaled black eyes went to Robin again. His ears pricked up. His chest swelled. Spirit Pack. What is this feeling? He asked silently as he looked on. He had an urge to go to her, to that that look of fear off of her. Yes, he wnated to. But he knew he couldnt. Not when the partner, or who he thought to be the partner, of the exalphess's daughter was there. No..He couldnt now.

She heard something. It was small, and may just be nothing, but it made the fur on the back of her neck rise. Robin knew something was there, and being here, out in the open, was making things worse. If she could slip away, into the forest, even just in the trees on the edge of the clearing, she could disappear. No one would be able to see her as long as she didn't make a mistake. The only problem was Opal. She didn't want to be rude and just walk off, but she didn't know how to end a conversation. Usually, the other wolf had something to do and left her. The longer she was in the open, the longer whatever was out there could see her. "Um...I, uh...need to go." Robin said nervously, and just kind of bolted into the trees.
As she slipped into the shadows, she felt instantly better. She was under cover, obscured by the dappled spring light, and away from prying eyes. Robin let out a slightly disappointed sigh. The shadows were too uneven, there wasn't enough deep shade for her gift. Still, it was better than the clearing by far.

Mokai watched Robin. Yes. now is my chance, he thought as he slipped back into the trees and trotted around the clearing, hoping to find her again. He followed his nose, searching for the faint scent he had smelled before. After a few moments, his eyes caught sight of her again, but just barely. He stopped, about nine yards away, and looked at her. His ears fell back and he lowered his head. What was he thinking? He was a monster from HellValley. Not a male that one like herself would even look to for companionship. He shook his head slightly. But i want a home...And what better way to start? He sighed heavily and walked forward slowly, his ears down, his head low, and his tail partially tucked.

There it was again. Only now, the noise was more distinct. It was the sound of paws on the new spring grass, slow and hesitant. Her head whipped around in the direction of the sound, and her eyes landed on one of the most terrifying things she had ever seen. It was a wolf, but huge, with bat-like wings, and talons, and his eyes! Every instinct she had screamed at Robin to run. So she did. Her heart was pounding, the wind was rushing past her ears, and her eyes were searching for any deep shadow that was sufficient to hide her. She didn't find anything, and cursed herself for not just walking the few feet into the clearing to gain the protection of the pack members who were there. Well, it was too late now. All she could hope for was that she could outrun him. With those wings, she partially doubted that she would be able to escape him if he really wanted to find her, but she couldn't just stand there for him to attack her! This was a fine mess she was in, she thought, still running without paying attention to where she was going.

Mokai noticed her bolt. At first, he wasnt going to follow her, but then...he remembered something. She was heading towards loner land. No. He wouldnt allow that! With a snarl, He lept forwards. No. He wasnt going to let another vanish like FireHeart. It was too dangerous. ''Hey!'' He barked after her as he ran, his massive legs carrying him forward swiftly. ''Stupid wings! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GET TORN?'' He snarled at himself. He could see her. That was always a good sign. Now the question was how to stop her. Mokai picked up the pace and cut her off quickly, bracing himself for an impact. ''Stop!'' He barked desprately.

She ignored his calls to stop. Her heart was beating so loud in her ears that she couldn't hear exactly what he was saying anyway. All she knew was that he had been watching her, and was chasing her now that she'd spotted him. Robin had had plenty of experience with beatings in the past, and had no desire to have any repeat performances in her new home. What she wasn't expecting was for him to cut her off. She only had time to wonder why he hadn't just attacked her on the move before sliding into his thickly muscled side. "Oof." She fell over, but was soon back on her feet, breathing hard, belly low to the ground, hackles up, ready to start running again the moment he made a threatening move. "What do you want?" She said quietly, no hint of a growl in her voice. The last thing she wanted to do was antagonize something his size. Especially something that had already expressed an interest in her.

Mokai let out a soft laugh. ''Easy now,'' He said as his pink tongue lolled out of his maw. ''You were heading into the un marked terras.'' He said with a small motion of his massive head. ''The last one i saw go out there didnt come back.'' He sat back on his haunches, hoping to seem less...well..terrifying. His ears were back still and he held his head low again. ''I, am Mokai,'' He said with a small smile that one could call sweet. ''I know i look like alot, but i dont want to hurt you at all. I promise,'' He said softly. His cheast heaved slightly as he panted. Black pelt...how he hated how hot he got.

After taking a look around, Robin realized that he was right. She had been about to enter a very dangerous area, and he had stopped her. To protect her? "Why?" She asked in between large breaths. "Why did you help me? Mokai." She hesitated a moment before saying his name. He was looking...submissive. Like he was trying to look less threatening. That was a lot like what she had been doing earlier. Maybe he was telling the truth. She stood slightly and sat back on her haunches, her own ears back and shoulders slumped. The irony of the situation escaped her, but if anyone had been looking on, they would've seen a huge, terrifying black wolf being submissive to a tiny black she-wolf, who was also being submissive. A situation that many would consider hilarious.

Mokai took a moment, thinking. ''Why?'' He repeated her question. His head cocked to the side slightly. The question ran through his head, yet, he couldnt think of the answer. Was it because he felt that odd feeling in his chest? ''I...dont know. I just...had to.'' He said softly. He lowered his eyes to the ground, and some sunlight now poured over the red marking on his face. His tail wrapped around his haunches snugly. It was quiet. Too quiet for Mokai's comfort. ''Come on, let me take you back to the camp,'' He said with a warm look on his terrifying face. His ears were still back as he stood up as he looked at her, hopeful.

Robin tilted her own head at his answer. He didn't know? Why wouldn't he know? Everyone always had reasons for what they did, motives that drove them. Why should he be any different? But she decided to leave it be. It would be a bad idea to press a wolf of Mokai's size and obvious strength, so she shrugged and stood. "Sounds like a plan. I'm Robin by the way." She introduced herself, realizing that she hadn't earlier. Rudeness would be an equally bad idea right now. She kept her posture low, tail and ears, head, all low, making her already slight frame look even smaller next to his hulking size.

Mokai smiled slightly. ''It is a honor to meet you, Robin,'' He said with a nod to her as he started to walk forward slowly. His talons sank into the moist, soft soil as he walked, leaving massive prints in it. His tail hung limply behind him, and his torn and tattered wings were folded as far as he could get them. ''So, if you dont mind me asking, what is it that makes you different like the rest of here around the Frost Pack terra?'' He asked as he looked down at her. He adverted his eyes fairly quickly, for he didnt want to scare her more than he already was. No, that would be bad. This was one of the closest wolves he had gotten to since, well, lets just say a while. He wasnt going to blow it all now..
