Tekai yawned, pushing his tail over his eyes, an old, and fairly useless habit. The light would not disturb him, as his entire world was black. The light could not touch his damaged retinas, or rather, it could, it just didn't make a difference to Tekai.
The scent of prey drifted over his nose as he took in the cave around him. A dead mouse rested just in front of his head, and he moved his head around from side to side. There wasn't anything to show where she'd gone, that Hanala, and Tekai shrugged to himself, pushing the limp mouse away and padding further back in the cave. He wasn't just going to turn into an icicle while he slept.

Hanala flew back into the cave, a long blanket of moss under her one talon. It was "sewn" together by buck hairs and vines she found around the forest and from a carcass. She flew over and dropped it on Tekai. It fell just below his neck and she sat a few feet away from him, cocking her head and balancing on one talon. He had moved, she noted. She dropped the vines and hairs from her beak and began stripping moss, laying it out and weaving the vines in and out with her talons while leaning against the wall. She made a long carpet she put infront of the cave, almost toatly protecting the cave against the wind. She sat at the bottom and spread her wings, protecting the cave from the rest of the wind. She shuddered as the wind buffeted against her wings. She closed her eyes tightly but stayed where she was. She would let others in, so others would be able to stay warm. She would not let her friends freeze. No matter what the concequence.

Tekai started as something cold was dropped on his body, but he relaxed a moment later. It was vaguely warm, and he was aware that his bodyheat would warm it so that it protected his body. He imagined that Hanala had done it, but Tekai was tired, a deep, bone aching tired.
He wanted to sleep now, but he still lifted up his head to gaze at the bired perched in front of the opening to the cave. "You're Hanala, aren't you?"

She nodded, holding up her only Talon. She nodded again and spread her wings farther. She shuddered again at the wind and cold, and was slightly aware that she couldn't feel her wings anymore. She moaned inwardly and slightly repositioned herself.

ooc:|| Tekai and Hanala are now caught up to normal people time. xD
bic:|| The snow still fell, but Tekai knew it was morning now. It was that internal clock of his, it never let him sleep past the sun's rising, even if he could no longer see the sun rise. He still woke up at the crack of dawn every day. He couldn't help it, it always happened.
Tekai yawned widely, getting to his feet and shaking off the blanket that the bird had put on his shoulders. He didn't mind though, it wasn't that bad. Hanala had managed to keep it warm in there. He wasn't sure how, but something was blocking them from the outside world.

Hanala swayed on her talons. Her wings were awfully cold, and she was so tired...she tried to flap her wings, but she was so tired and cold they just kinda sagged. She squinted and tried to move forward, but fell, her wings falling uselessly beside her. She let out a squaking groan. Her wings twitched as a ring of blackness surrounded her vision. She felt the warmth of the blackness against the cold of the real world. She could barley lift her head. "sqraw..." she croaked as the ring got larger.

Hanala changed back into wolf, moving to put her body infront of the gap. She shuddered again. "So cold" she said in a whimper. She shuttered again. She swayed and her head lolled to the side and her shoulders slumped. Though she couldn't feel her shoulders...

Tekai blinked as the bird in front of him shifted into a wolf. Hanala. So cold... she was whimpering, and Tekai padded quietly forward, his paws pressing against the marks in the cave's floor.
He resolved to figure out more later as he padded over to her side, "You okay?" he questioned quietly, poking her with his nose. He flinched as he felt her cold flesh - he'd known she was cold, her body temperature had dropped, but this felt even colder than he'd thought it would be...

Hanala nodded, her nose turning blue as she shivered. "Just kinda cold" she said, and closing her eyes at the only warmth she felt all night. She could barley remember to open her eyes. "And tired" she said, swaying as if to prove her point.

Tekai snorted, "Why on earth were you standing in front of the cave entrance all night? Were you trying to get killed?" he bared his fangs in disgust, padding over to let her lean on him, "Come on, you need some sleep."

Hanala shrugged, leaning into him. "Trying to keep wolves warm. A few came in tonight" she said. She shrugged again and had to resist falling asleep on her paws. She took a few steps and yawned, her jaws snapping shut with an audible snap as she drooped.

Tekai shrugged, "Whatever. You still need to sleep." he'd missed wolves? That wasn't very smart of him. He sent a pulse of his power out around the cave, but he wasn't paying much attention to the returns as he moved slowly towards the back of the cave, supporting Hanala's weight.

Hanala found somewhere decently soft and flopped down, tucking her nose under her tail. She sighed and curled up tighter, soon falling asleep before she could even thank Tekai. Her nose slowly got more color and her shoulders got warmer. She fell into a peacful sleep, not dreaming. Her breathing was deep and slow.

Tekai inclined his head sharply as she fell asleep, assuming a sentinel's position nearby. It wouldn't do to leave while she was sleeping. That wasn't quite as easy as wolves made it seem. Tekai flicked his ear.

Hanala turned. Her ears flicked and she moved her head. She had an inoccent expression on her face as she slept. Her muscels were loose and her face happy.
